The church was founded over
100 years ago by Rev. Jack McKee. In 1907, Rev. W.L. Dyas led the
members in building better church facilities. That church, though
remodeled over the years, is still in use today.
In 1912, Rev. J.A. Vinson held
the church’s largest baptismal service, with twenty-four added to the church.
In 1959, electricity was installed and the ceilings were lowered under
the leadership of Rev. E.L. Berry. The first choir was organized
by Rev. A.L. White in 1963.
Numerous improvements were made
during the long tenure of Rev. Oscar E. Player. At the church for
28 years, he was there as the sanctuary was sheet-rocked, new hymnals and
choir robes were purchased, and the facilities were built. The added
facilities included restrooms, offices, classrooms, a kitchen, and a fellowship
hall.
The foyer and two front restrooms
were renovated in 1994. Additional improvements were made in the
sanctuary. In 1997, the church acquired new furniture. Central
air and heat were added in 2000.
After Rev. Donny Nedd arrived
in 2001, he organized the United Methodist Men and a church sign was erected |
