The original church, a
small quaint wooden structure, was built in 1910. The present church
was built in 1956 under the leadership of Rev. S.J. McLean. It was
built of brick and included two classrooms and a small fellowship area.
In 1980, the facility was expanded to add a storage area and three more
classrooms under the leadership of Rev. Karl Wood.
In 1994, the church received
its first female pastor, Rev. Ester Hammond. Under her leadership,
a preschool playground was set up in memory of Helen Wood (wife of Rev.
Wood). She also started a food bank. A $100 scholarship to
graduating high school senior members was also set up at that time.
Since the late 1980s,
the church has a potluck dinner after services the first Sunday of every
month. |
