Due to the effects of Hurricane Katrina, St. Philip UMC was closed in 2007.

The church was organized in 1925 at a Coal and Wood shop at 2600 St. Anthony Street.  Rev. W.D. Martin led the seven charter members in attendance.
Two lots on the corner of Annette and Law were purchased for $900.  The first church was built under the leadership of Rev. W.B. Buchanan in 1927.  As the church grew, larger facilities were needed.
The present church was built in 1935, with Rev. C.B. Small as pastor and builder.  It was dedicated four years later while Rev. John McCullen was pastor.  The church was remodeled in 1966.
How to Get There:
From Hwy 610, exit at Elysian Fields and head south.  After about 1/2 mile, turn right only Dorgenois.  Go 5 blocks and turn right onto Annette.  The church is on the left.
