           The Gunter family allowed the use of their land for the church for many years.  In the 1960s, a survey and proper payment for the church was made.  Two children, who died from eating poison berries around 1960, are buried about 300 yards from the church.  The earliest grave in the cemetery next to the church dates back to 1880.  The church possibly had its beginnings sometime around then.  The land for the cemetery was donated by Jim Glaze.
            The first church, built in the second half of the 19th century, had a covered entry.  Part of that original building is still in use today, though it has been remodeled and improved over the years.  Though the wall paneling was added with the floor joists were replaced, the foyer and front of the church is original.
            The William Thorn Taylor family greatly contributed to the early life of the church.  It included five brothers and five sisters that served the church. 
         In 1900, Rev. W.H. Wingfield revised the roll.   No church records before that time have survived.  By that time, the land around the church was all pasture and farm land. 
How to Get There:
    Take exit 85 from I-20 and head north on Hwy 167 past Bernice.  Just south of Lillie, turn right (east) onto Hwy 15.  In Spearsville, turn left (north) on Hwy 3121.  Then turn left on Tucker Store Rd. after 3.7 miles.  After 1.8 miles, turn right on Beech Grove Rd.  The church and cemetery are on the left, half a mile up the road.
