Though some records list the beginning of the church in 1898, the church was organized by Rev. Welsh in 1901 on the first block of South Adams Street.  It was later moved to the 600 block of West North Street.  Wanting a better location, the church relocated to the corner of North King and West Welsh Streets in 1928 under the leadership of Rev. Haynes.
Plans for a new church began under the leadership of Rev. Robert Harris.  It was completed when Rev. Willie B. Sweat served as pastor.  The church was consecrated in October of 1980.  The cornerstone was laid at the southeast corner on October 10, 1982.
How to Get There:
Take exit 54 from I-10 and head south on Hwy 99 to Welsh St.  Turn right and the church will be 6 blocks ahead on the right.
