The first services were held in the Parks home.  For about two years, the Methodists and Baptists alternated services.  The building was then converted into a hospital (it was the only one with electricity in the area) and services moved to the schoolhouse.  That didn’t work, so they bought a tent and held services underneath.
Property was later bought on the Front and Fifth Streets.  Construction began in 1920 and was completed the following year.  Rev. Riggs led their first service in the new church, which was a dedication service.
How to Get There:
Head to Oakdale on Hwy 165 or Hwy 10.  Continue west on Hwy 10 to Elizabeth.  Turn left on Hwy 3206 at a flashing yellow light.  Follow a curvy road that bends to the right (and becomes Main St.) until you get to Poplar St. (just past the Baptist Church) on the left.  Take a left and the church will be just down the road on your right.
