The Basile Methodist Eipiscopal
Church, South, organized in 1914, was one of the first churches to be established
in the town. In 1920, the church built and operated a high school
in the town. The school, the Evangeline Preparatory College charged
twenty-five cents per month tuition. The school burned down five
years later and the land was sold in 1939.
The current church building
was constructed in 1920. Hebrand Aguillard, Frank Aguillard, and
J.W. Hester provided most of the labor. In later years, a vestibule
was added to the front of the church. |
