The Montpelier United Methodist Church traces its history to 1904 when a group of local citizens met to
worship in the community's one room school house.  A white frame sanctuary was later built and was used
until 1968 when construction began the present facility located on property donated by F. W. Reimer.
The new church was dedicated on April 1, 1973, during the pastorate of Rev. A. Bray Sible. It was presented to the conference by H. H. George, Sr., H. E. Watson, Sr., and A. Newman Williams. A bell tower housing the church's original bell was dedicated in 1987 in memory of Mrs. Nannie Bond.
