Some materials are still stored at the Peters building. To locate
the site, go to the Directions page. A smaller
amount of material is located at the university library of Dillard
University in New Orleans. We now have an inventory of
Dillard's United Methodist material online.
The collection consists of the archives of the Louisiana
Annual Conference of the Methodist Church from 1847, collegiate records
from 1825, several manuscripts collections, and a large accumulation of
material from Shreveport and northwestern Louisiana. Included in this last
category is the archive of the North Louisiana Historical Association. |

Help Needed
The picture (left) shows the location for boxes of material in the
Archives. Due to a lack of space in the basement room, they are located
in the attic. An attempt is being made to convert the area into a
climate-controlled space. More information will be posted later on
this effort. |
Archivist
The archivist for the
Samuel Peters Research Center is Barbara Moore. While she may be able to answer
simple requests, please try not to request a large amount of data. By Appointment
Only, a visit to the Archives yourself would be recommended if you need
a lot of information. She can be reached via phone (318-869-5462), email
(archives@centenary.edu), or
standard postal mail (P.O. Box 41188, Shreveport, LA 71134-1188). |
