The church was first built in 1874
by John C. Jones as the old Independence Church. It united with the
Methodist Church in 1887.

St. Maurice on Hwy 71 (about 6 miles south of where Hwy 84 intersects Hwy
71 from the east). Turn NE on Hwy 477. The church and cemetery
are on the right.
