Lahey Chapel had its beginnings on Dec. 6, 1936, when a group of from the Wilda community met at a house belonging to Lynn Sweat.  Rev. Charles Lahey would lead the meetings in private homes until 1938, when local men constructed a church building.  Most of the supplies were donated by people in the area.  The first service was held in the new church in July 1938.  The first member listed on the roll is Rosa Morse (August 1938).
Though many of the young people grew up and moved away, the congregation still remains active.  Attendance increases at special times, such as homecomings on Easter Sundays and at Christmas time.
How to Get There:
Take Hwy 28 west out of Alexandria.  Almost 2 miles past the caution light at the Hwy 121 intersection, turn right on St. Clair Rd. (at the 2nd caution light). After 2.1 miles, turn left on Hwy 1200.  After half a mile … just past Cotile Rd. … the church will be on the right.
