In 1910, a church was built on the property
of J.F. Ball & Bros. Lumber company using locally produced lumber.
It was built by the company carpernter. The land was part of 80 acres
that had been bought from Mary A. Christy for $125 on March 5, 1904.
The church was sold for "$1.00 and other valuable services" to the Methodist
Protestant Church on October 16, 1911. The church trustees at that
time were Mr. F.R. Williams, Mr. O.W. Nalley, and Mr. A.A. Luneau.
Using some of the lumber from the original
church, a new church was built in the mid-1940s and was dedicated on September
2, 1945. The dedication service was led by Bishop Paul Martin, D.S.
R.R. Branton, and the pastor Rev. Protice S. Aymond.
In the mid 1950s, a fellowship hall (wth
a dirt floor and a wood burning stove) was built.
In 1983, the sanctuary was renovated with
lower ceilings, new lights and windows. |
