Rev. Joseph Johnson led in the organization of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Waxia in 1888.  The church was built along the Bayou Waxia.
The church was moved to a better location in 1901.  Belle Phelps and Elizabeth Layne exchanged lots with the church so that the new church location was on Hwy 395 (Waxia Rd.).  The name of the church was changed to St. Paul.
In 1963, the old church was taken down and replaced with a new one.
For over 100 years, St. Paul United Methodist Church has been and will continue to be a church where minds and hearts are cultivated with the word of God.
How to Get There:
From Hwy 190, turn north on State Hwy 103 at Port Barre.  After about 5-6 miles, you will turn right onto 359.  The church will be up ahead on the left.
