The St. James church was organized by Rev. William Davis on April 9, 1865.  A small church was built and served the congregation until 1893.  A new church was completed in May of 1893 under the leadership of Rev. A.H. Banks.
In 1918, the Louisiana Annual Conference met in New Iberia with St. James serving as the host church.  The pastor at that time was Rev. Henry Taylor.
In the late 1960s, a truck ran into the front of the church creating a lot of damage.  That wooden church was later replaced by the present brick structure.
How to Get There:
Take the Hwy 14 exit into New Iberia.  Turn right on E. St. Peter Street.  The church will be a few hundred yards down on your left.  Note: St. Peter Street is a one way street running east.
