    Scott Chapel began as the Chinn Chapel African Methodist.Episcopal Church.  The cornerstone of the church dates the church back to 1890.  
     The church today stands on the same ground along Bayou Lettsworth purchased by its founders a century ago.  The building and grounds are contained just over half an acre.  The land was originally part of the plantation owned by Ernest F. Platt.   It was purchased from the Platt family on June 3, 1903 for $100.
     After being renamed Scott Chapel, the church was one of the first in the are to be used as a public school for children.  
How to Get There:
     Head north on Hwy 1 towards Lettsworth.  Turn right on 971.  After 1/2 mile, turn left and you will see the church on your right.
