Under the leadership of Rev.
Austin Kennedy, a congregation of the Methodist Episcopal Church, North
was incorporated in 1872 at Terrebonne Station (now called Schriever).
They took a 99 year lease on a lot located between Magnolia Grove and Dumas
Plantations. A small church was built on the property. By the
end of the first year, the Schriever church had 267 members.
